A1 To Make It
A2 Get to Stepping
B1 Shake Your Brain
B2 What A Trip
Ecstasy Garage Disco boss Corporeal Face follows up his debut EP for Furthur Electronix with the ‘The Upward Spiral’ on Acroplane. An ode to psychedelic transformation since time immemorial, it also journeys through personal influences.
The soaring hardcore of ‘To Make It’ draws on the ecstatic imprint left by E (see every comment left under any rave video), while also nodding to the funk and soul-infused sound of Reinforced bosses Marc Mac and Dego. ‘Get To Stepping’ revels in a love of M1 pianos and crusty breaks, no wave energies and trance emotionality hidden within its DNA. ’Shake Your Brain’ reduces tech-step to a 160 tempo, long wave vibrations still carrying the spirit of late 90s Hackney squat parties. And ‘What A Trip’ signs off, amen-fuelled jungle shrugging off cliched soundsystem samples to draw instead on 60s Japanese psychedelia and peak UKG.
